The annual YouthCARE Canberra Rugby Dinner was a huge success, as we were excited to celebrate not only another great night, but also our 30th year in action.
This year’s event was held at a new location for YouthCARE Canberra – Casino Canberra, and the night entailed all of the usual’s – delicious food, auction items, raffles, and as always, an exceptional panel discussion.
As this year was Stephen Larkham’s last year at the Brumbies, we thought it was essential to have him as one of our panellists. He was accompanied by former Rugby World Cup Player, Joe Roff and a YCC regular and ABC Radio’s, Tim Gavel. The rugby greats conducted a light-hearted discussion that took the audience down memory lane, and left them laughing yet feeling nostalgic.
Mount Majura Vineyard also had a special part to play this year, crafting a red wine especially for YCC. The No. 10 Red was served throughout the night, and was also available for purchase. By the end of the evening, X cases of wine were sold, raising a huge X dollars for YouthCARE Canberra.
We were also so pleased with the support from return sponsors as well as new sponsors. We would like to make a special thanks to this year’s major sponsor, Canberra Legal Group, as well as our minor sponsors; IGA Crookwell, Davies News Crookwell, RedHub, McGrath, Mount Majura Vineyard, and of course our corporate sponsor, Synergy. The event raised a massive 45 thousand dollars, which will go straight towards assisting vulnerable young people facing homelessness, violence and other traumas. Without our sponsors and the help from the local community, the event would not have been possible.
